16-Year-Old Boy Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near South 20th Street 

RICHMOND, CA (July 25, 2024) – Monday, Ricardo Funes-Barajas died and Alexi Pineda Ticas was arrested after a stop-sign crash on Ohio Avenue. 

Shortly after midnight, dispatchers received calls near South 20th Street on July 15th.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a driver traveled through a stop sign without stopping at the intersection and collided with another vehicle. First responders declared the sole occupant of one of the vehicles dead at the scene.

Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 16-year-old Ricardo Funes-Barajas.

Meanwhile, police booked the DUI driver, 30-year-old Ticas, of Richmond into the Richmond Police Department jail. Ticas is currently in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on a $1.1 million bail.

Authorities charged the driver with driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a high blood alcohol content causing injury.

The family of Funes-Barajas started a GoFundMe page to help with Ricky’s funeral expenses.
