Unidentified Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Tesla Crash near Birmingham Drive
ENCINITAS, CA (July 25, 2024) – Monday afternoon, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 5.
Authorities responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just north of Birmingham Drive.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a Tesla Model Y was heading south on the freeway.
The Tesla then struck a man who was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. First responders declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released his name or place of residency.
Responding authorities said the Tesla driver was unharmed and remained at the scene.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. No further details regarding the Birmingham Drive pedestrian crash have been released.
Authorities are asking those who witnessed the incident to contact the Oceanside Police Officers as soon as possible. Once available, more details will be provided about the fatal pedestrian collision on Interstate 5.
