Two-Vehicle Crash near San Pedro Street Left Bus Driver and Four Others Injured

COMPTON, CA (July 24, 2024) – Monday morning, one child died and multiple were hospitalized after a Metro bus accident on Rosecrans Avenue.

Emergency personnel responded around 10:25 a.m., to the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and San Pedro Street. 

Based on reports, an eastbound Metro 127 bus collided with another vehicle in West Ranch Dominguez. 

Paramedics transported the bus driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. At the same time, four other occupants from the second vehicle were hospitalized in critical condition.

Crews also say the driver of the bus suffered minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol officers later described the occupants of the second vehicle as a 9-year-old boy, a 31-year-old, and a 40-year-old female passenger, and the 41-year-old female driver from Los Angeles. 

On Tuesday, authorities stated that the 9-year-old child had succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation of the bus accident.
