88-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Montair Drive

MOORPARK, CA (July 23, 2024) – Late Sunday night, one man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 118.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 11:00 p.m., just west of Montair Drive.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered the victim lying on the side of the roadway with severe injuries. 

Despite life-saving efforts, responding paramedics pronounced the involved pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials only described the deceased victim as an 88-year-old man from Moorpark. 

According to multiple witnesses, the suspect’s vehicle was a large, dark-colored pickup truck, which fled westbound. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, Moorpark Officials are asking those who witnessed the incident to contact the CHP’s Moorpark Office at 805-553-0800. Once available, more details will be provided about the pedestrian accident on Highway 118.
