53-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident near Cadet Road

TAFT, CA (July 23, 2023) – Early Monday morning, a bicycle collision on Highway 33 took the life of Clinton James Baer.

Authorities responded to the scene around 12:57 a.m., just south of Cadet Road on July 15th.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a vehicle hit the man riding the bicycle in the area. It was unclear if the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene. 

Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the male cyclist dead at the scene. Kern County Officials later identified the deceased victim as 53-year-old Baer, of Taft. 

No further details regarding the fatal bicycle-auto collision have been released to the public at this time. The investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the crash.
