PHOENIX, AZ (July 23, 2024) – Early Wednesday morning, Biyan Wu was fatally struck in a semi-truck vs pedestrian crash on 63rd Avenue.
Dispatchers received calls just before 2:00 a.m., near Buckeye Road on July 17th.
Investigators say a semi-truck struck 71-year-old Biyan Lu in an unmarked lane while she was pushing a shopping cart along the edge of Buckeye Road.
Emergency responders found Lu seriously injured, and she later succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Shortly after the crash, the semi-truck driver stopped and coordinated with law enforcement. Officers do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the collision.
