Two Drivers Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near McDowell Road

PHOENIX, AZ (July 22, 2024) – Wednesday morning, Indalecio Lara and Eric Allen were killed in a head-on accident on 58th Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m., near McDowell Road on July 10th.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, Allen was driving a red car west on McDowell Road. Meanwhile, Lara was driving a black taxi cab east.

For reasons under investigation, Allen suddenly crossed into oncoming lanes and hit the taxi head-on.

Paramedics arrived and transported Allen and his female passenger, as well as Lara to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 37-year-old Allen and 51-year-old Lara deceased. In addition, the female passenger remained in critical condition.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
