69-Year-Old Semi-Truck Driver Dead after 4-Vehicle Crash near Farm-to-Market Road 1753

FANNIN COUNTY, TX (July 22, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, a semi-truck collision on State Highway 78 killed Charles Porter Wallace.

Just before 4:00 p.m., crews arrived to the scene near Farm-to-Market Road 1753 on June 4th.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash involved a passenger vehicle, a van, a semi-truck carrying a dump trailer, and another semi-truck driven by 69-year-old Wallace.

Upon investigating, troopers learned that Wallace was stopped at the southbound lanes attempting to make a left turn while the van was behind the passenger vehicle in the northbound lanes.

Meanwhile, the other semi-truck was also heading north while traveling at high rates of speed. The other semi-truck driver then failed to slow down before crashing into the van, pushing it into the path of Wallace.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 69-year-old Wallace deceased.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
