61-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Beale Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 18, 2024) – Thursday night, a pedestrian accident on Highway 178 claimed the life of one man. 

The fatal incident happened around 9:04 p.m., along the westbound lanes of the highway just east of Beale Avenue. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man ran directly into the path of a Nissan sedan in the number one lane, resulting in a collision. 

Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim once the next of kin has been notified.
