Man Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Accident near Bear Mountain Boulevard

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 18, 2024) – Tuesday morning, one man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Interstate 5.

Dispatchers received calls around 12:00 p.m., near Bear Mountain Boulevard on July 2nd.

Upon arrival, first responders located a male pedestrian down on the northbound shoulder.

Reports indicate that the driver of a vehicle struck the man and immediately fled the scene. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, responding medics pronounced the male victim deceased. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
