Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Auto Collision near Arroyo Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 18, 2024) – Early Monday morning, one man was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Foothill Boulevard.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene around 2:00 a.m., near Arroyo Street in the neighborhood of Sylmar. 

According to officers, the driver told police that he struck the victim who was crossing the street outside of an unmarked crosswalk. The driver then made a U-turn and contacted 911 for additional assistance. 

However, investigators later determined that the driver fled the scene for at least 30 minutes and went to work. The driver was later arrested after returning to the site of the incident. 

The male victim, believed to be in his 60s, sustained fatal injuries from the collision and died at the scene. At this time, his identity remains undisclosed to the public.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested the unidentified driver for felony hit-and-run. The LAPD will provide more information regarding the Foothill Boulevard hit-and-run once available.
