One Pronounced Dead after Car Crash near Concord Avenue

CONCORD, CA (July 18, 2024) – Sunday, a 3-car accident on Interstate 680 took the life of one person and left another seriously injured. 

California Highway Patrol officers responded around 10:55 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Interstate 680, just north of north of Concord Avenue. 

Based on the initial investigation, a black Honda Civic crashed into a concrete barrier just south of Highway 4. The impact of the crash pushed the Honda off the barrier before coming to a stop in the 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound I-680.

Following the crash, the Honda driver exited his vehicle and was struck by a southbound black Chevrolet Tahoe. Afterward, the driver was sent further south where he was struck by a silver Toyota Corolla. 

Ultimately, the Corolla veered off the roadway and crashed into a concrete center divider before overturning. 

Medics arrived and declared the Honda driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the male Corolla driver to a hospital for treatment of significant injuries. 

At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public. Investigators believe the Honda driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.
