Male Bicyclist Dead, Jonathan Calixto Arrested after Hit-and-Run on Arrow Highway [Irwindale, CA]
Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Collision near Rivergrade Road
IRWINDALE, CA (July 16, 2024) – Tuesday, Jonathan Calixto was arrested and a man was killed in a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Arrow Highway.
Dispatchers received calls in the area around 8:31 p.m., near Rivergrade Road and the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area.
Investigators say the suspect driver of a stolen Land Rover from a Toyota dealership at 3500 Peck Road in El Monte was traveling in the area.
The El Monte police started to pursue the suspect before calling it off.
A few moments later, officers received reports of the suspect colliding with a man on a bicycle near Arrow Highway. First responders declared the unidentified male victim dead at the scene.
Following the crash, the suspect exited Land Road and fled the scene on foot. Shortly after, crews located and arrested the suspect. Authorities booked 29-year-old Jonathan Calixto, of Hanford into the West Covina Jail for murder and several other charges.
