25-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies in Two-Vehicle Collision near 84th Street

TACOMA, WA (July 16, 2024) – Saturday evening, Luis Reyes Garcia was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 5.

Dispatchers received calls around 7:17 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near South 84th Street on June 29th.

Per reports, 25-year-old Garcia was heading north at a high rate of speed and made an attempt to change lanes. The motorcyclist then crashed into another vehicle.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 25-year-old Garcia deceased. In addition, paramedics treated the other driver and a passenger at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, investigators say excessive speed was a main factor.

Meanwhile, troopers blocked two northbound lanes for nearly four hours until traffic was back into operation. No other information was added.
