19-Year-Old Man Dies in Rollover Crash near Heritage Road

OTAY MESA, CA (July 10, 2024) – Early Monday morning, a 19-year-old passenger was killed in a rollover collision on State Route 905.

Around 12:00 a.m., dispatchers received calls near Heritage Road on June 24th.

Police officers say the driver of a BMW 435i was heading east and lost control of the vehicle. The BMW then crashed into the guardrail and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in an embankment.

Emergency personnel arrived and extricated both the driver and the passenger from the wrecked BMW. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 19-year-old male passenger dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.

Meanwhile, medics transported the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Following preliminary duties, alcohol or impairment was ruled out as a factor in the crash, and an active investigation remains underway. Witnesses are urged to contact the CHP San Diego Area at 858-293-6000.
