53-Year-Old Female Driver Killed in Chain Reaction Crash near Mile Marker 224

ANDREWS, TX (July 8, 2024) – Monday evening, Rosa Pulgar Granado was killed in a four-vehicle collision on State Highway 128.

Authorities responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., near mile marker 224 on June 24th.

Officers say 29-year-old Herman Olivas was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra and rear-ended a 2013 Kia Optima, driven by Granado.

The GMC was then pushed into a 2023 Ford F-150, driven by Ashton McCarty and a 2024 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by 35-year-old Irvin Perez.

Investigators say all of the vehicles were stopped at a temporary construction zone traffic red-light. There, Olivas lost control of his vehicle and the collision occurred.

Consequently, all of the involved cars blocked the west and eastbound lanes of the highway.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 53-year-old Granado deceased. Meanwhile, paramedics took Olivas to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. In addition, McCarty and Perez did not sustain any injuries.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
