70-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision on Auction Barn Road
BELTON, TX (July 8, 2024) – Early Thursday evening, John Cowen was killed in a 2-car accident on Auction Barn Road.
Authorities responded to the scene around 5:15 p.m., near Auction Barn Road on June 13th.
Officers say Cowen was heading west on Auction Barn Road and attempted to make a turn onto Farm-to-Market Road 1670.
There, Cowen failed to yield the right-of-way to another driver, resulting in a collision at the intersection.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 70-year-old Cowen, of Salado deceased.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. No additional information was added, and the Belton Police Department CRASH team is handling the investigation.
