62-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Solo-Vehicle Crash near 20th Street
DEL MAR, CA (July 3, 2024) – Early Tuesday, Elizabeth Brooks-Fratus was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run accident on Coast Boulevard.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight at the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard near 20th Street.
Based on the initial investigation, a 2019 Maserati Gran Turismo crashed into a tree and collided with a parked Dodge Ram pickup-truck.
Police said the Dodge was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Paramedics transported the 62-year-old male passenger of the Maserati to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.
Following the collision, the woman driving the Maserati fled the scene on foot. Police later arrested 52-year-old Elizabeth Brooks-Fratus who was taken to a hospital for her injuries.
Authorities will later book Elizabeth to Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility for vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run, and DUI related charges.
