71-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Black Diamond Drive
ANTIOCH, CA (June 27th, 2024) – Late Monday evening, Richard Chen was killed in a pedestrian collision on Lone Tree Way.
Dispatchers received calls around 10:35 p.m., near Black Diamond Drive on June 24th.
Reports indicate that Chen was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk with a “no walk sign”.
There, the driver of a passing vehicle struck Chen, causing life-threatening injuries. Medics arrived and pronounced 71-year-old Chen dead at the scene due to the extent of his condition.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Following clearing operations, officers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
