Jesse Ortiz Fatally Struck in DUI Collision on South Midvale Park Road [Tucson, AZ]

41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after DUI Crash near West Argyle Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (June 27th, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a two-vehicle DUI collision on South Midvale Park Road claimed the life of Jesse Ortiz.

Authorities responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m., near West Argyle Avenue on June 18th.

The collision involved a 1998 Chevrolet GMT400 pickup-truck, driven by Ortiz and a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup-truck driven by a 19-year-old man.

Per reports, Ortiz was heading south when he attempted to turn left onto West Argyle Avenue. There the teen driver slammed into him.

Despite life-saving efforts, responding medics pronounced 41-year-old Ortiz dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the other driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment of serious injuries. During preliminary operations, crews determined that he was impaired.

Police officers eventually stated that failure to yield right-of-way played a role. However, authorities listed speed and impairment as the primary factor.

At this time, charges on the teen are pending and the case was forwarded to Pima County Attorney’s Office. An update will be released once available.

Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Jesse Ortiz.
