50-Year-Old Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident near 55th Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (June 25, 2024) – Early Monday morning, Ramona Barajas-Ray was killed in a solo-car collision on Campbell Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene around 1:50 a.m., near 55th Avenue on June 10th.

For reasons under investigation, Barajas-Raya was driving a northbound vehicle on 55th Avenue and veered off the road.

The vehicle then crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing critical wounds to the driver. Paramedics arrived and took 50-year-old Barajas-Raya to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more information will be released.
