28-Year-Old Man Killed in DUI Motorcycle Collision near Orangethorpe Avenue

FULLERTON, CA (June 25, 2024) – Wednesday, Francisco Garcia-Vargas was arrested and Alexander Marce died in a DUI crash on Gilbert Street.

Officers responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m., in the area of Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street on June 12th.

According to reports, a 1999 BMW 323i rear-ended the rider of a 2019 Harley-Davidson who was stopped at a red light on Orangethorpe Avenue. As a result, the rider was ejected onto the road.

The BMW dragged the motorcycle underneath the vehicle until bystanders were able to stop the driver.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained. Authorities later identified him as 28-year-old Marce, of Anaheim.

During cleanup and preliminary duties, police officers observed the driver struggling through a field sobriety test. Police officers arrested 44-year-old Francisco Garcia-Vargas for driving without a license, felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter due to intoxication.
