43-Year-Old Moreno Valley Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Frederick Street

MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 20, 2024) – Late Tuesday morning, Enrique Ruiz was killed in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 60.

Authorities responded to the scene around 10:59 a.m., along the westbound lanes of the freeway near Frederick Street and Pigeon Pass Road. 

According to the investigators, a tractor-trailer hit a male pedestrian walking in the No. 1 lane.

Responding paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department declared the man dead at the scene. Later, officials identified the deceased pedestrian as 43-year-old Ruiz, of Moreno Valley. 

Additionally, the driver of the truck did not sustain injuries from the incident, according to the CHP. 

In the end, police closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 60 as crews cleared the scene. It currently remains unclear as to why the victim was attempting to cross the freeway. 

Officers are asking those who witnessed the fatal pedestrian crash to contact the CHP Riverside Office at 951-637-8000.
