55-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Police Pursuit near Grant Line Road

ELK GROVE, CA (June 19, 2024) – Monday night, a stolen-vehicle crash on Franklin Boulevard claimed the life of one man.

Around 9:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the area of Grant Line Road and Highway 99. 

Upon arrival, responding officers located the vehicle two miles north of the reported location. Authorities say the driver of the stolen car sped away after seeing the officers, initiating a short pursuit. 

The suspect then entered a neighborhood and collided with an SUV at the intersection of Laguna and Franklin Boulevard. 

Responding emergency personnel rushed the SUV driver to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials only identified the deceased driver as a 55-year-old man. 

Meanwhile, police arrested the 13-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle for several charges including felony evading resulting in serious injury or death.
