Joe Leediker Jr. and Gary Greening Jr. Killed in Semi-Truck Collision on South First Street [Lufkin, TX]
Two Men Pronounced Dead after T-Bone Accident near Champions Drive
LUFKIN, TX (June 12, 2024) – Sunday, Joe Leediker Jr. and Gary Greening Jr. were killed in a semi-truck collision on South First Street.
Authorities arrived to the 3100 block of South First Street around 11:15 a.m., near Champions Drive on May 12th.
Reports indicate that Leediker Jr. was driving a Honda sedan south and veered into the center line, attempting to access a crossover.
There, an 18-wheeler driven by 54-year-old Ervin Mitchell T-boned the Honda. In addition, a passing Toyota 4Runner driven by 19-year-old Blake Shumake also hit the semi-truck.
First responders located the 18-wheeler in the northbound lanes.
Medics pronounced 74-year-old Leediker Jr., of Lufkin dead at the scene. Meanwhile, crews took his passenger, 65-year-old Greening Jr., of Lufkin to a nearby hospital where he later passed away.
Paramedics also took Shumake to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
No other information was provided at this time, and further investigation remains ongoing.
