Two Pronounced Dead after Sedan Vs. Pickup Truck Collision near Montgomery Street

OROVILLE, CA (June 12, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Beatrice Higgins and James Moore Jr. were killed and Elijah Kinser was hurt in a 2-car crash. 

The deadly collision happened around 10:00 a.m., along Highway 70 at Feather River Bridge, just north of Montgomery Street. 

For reasons under investigation, Higgins was driving a northbound white Volkswagen CC and suddenly came to a stop.

As a result, a red Dodge Ram pickup-truck traveling at about 65 miles per hour rear-ended the Volkswagen. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 62-year-old Higgins, of Oroville dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported her passenger 58-year-old Moore Jr., of Oroville to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ram, identified as Elijah Kinser, sustained minor injuries from the incident. 

Following preliminary duties, investigators say both occupants inside the Volkswagen were not wearing seat belts at the time. Oroville Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal two-vehicle crash to contact their offices as soon as possible.
