22-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Mile Marker 161

SOCORRO, NM (June 12, 2024) – Early Friday morning, police responded to a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 25 that killed Adriana Jurado.

Dispatchers received calls around 5:30 a.m., near mile marker 161 on May 31st.

Authorities say the driver of a Chevrolet pickup-truck swerved to avoid hitting a deer, and crashed the vehicle.

Afterwards, the driver and passenger exited the vehicle to pick up debris from the roadway. Shortly after, a northbound white sedan struck Jurado and immediately fled the scene without contacting police or rendering aid.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 22-year-old Jurado dead at the scene.

At this time, the suspect driver remains at large. Police officers encourage those with further information to contact their offices as soon as possible.
