42-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Highway 183
CASTROVILLE, CA (June 11, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Espinosa Road.
Police officers responded to the scene around 4:28 a.m., just east of Highway 183.
Investigators say the driver of a black Mercedes A220 sedan struck a pedestrian in the westbound lanes. Crews say the driver failed to avoid the man who stepped directly into the path of the vehicle.
Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The Monterey County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased pedestrian once available.
No arrests have been made at this time, Castroville Officials will provide more information regarding the Espinosa Road pedestrian crash once available. Those who witnessed the fatal incident are asked to contact the CHP Monterey Area office at (831) 770-8000.
