23-Year-Old Man Arrested after Deadly Multi-Vehicle Collision near East Smith Street

KENT, WA (June 11, 2024) – Wednesday evening, one man was pronounced dead after a multi-car crash on Central Avenue North.

Authorities responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m., near East Smith Street on May 29th.

Investigators say the collision involved a red Toyota Prius, a gray Toyota Prius, and a Tesla. Per reports, the 23-year-old male driver of the Tesla drove through a red light at the intersection.

As a result, the Tesla collided with a gray Prius that was pulling out of a private parking lot. The impact pushed the Tesla into the path of a red Prius, resulting in another collision. The driver was trapped inside with extreme injuries.

Medics arrived and transported three injured victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Meanwhile, paramedics treated two others at the scene.

Due to the extent of his condition, crews later pronounced the 24-year-old male driver of the Prius , from Kent, dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, authorities arrested the 23-year-old male Tesla driver, from Spanaway. An active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
