Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Westheimer Road [Houston, TX]
33-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after DUI Collision near Briarhurst Drive
HOUSTON, TX (June 10, 2024) – Monday evening, one woman was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Westheimer Road.
Police officers responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m., near Briarhurst Drive on May 13th.
Investigators say the female driver of an eastbound vehicle was traveling at high rates of speed.
The driver then veered off the road near the Houston METRO bus stop and struck two pedestrians who were standing at the bus stop. The vehicle then crashed into a traffic pole while the 40-year-old man was sent across four lanes of traffic.
Medical personnel transported the driver and the male pedestrian to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics pronounced the 33-year-old female pedestrian deceased due to the extent of injuries sustained.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the driver was intoxicated. Although, no charges have been filed.
An active investigation to determine further information about the fatal pedestrian accident on Westheimer Road is still currently underway.
