32-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near V Street

SACRAMENTO, CA (June 10, 2024) – Friday morning, Joe Johnson was arrested after fatally striking a man in a pedestrian crash on 16th Street.

The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m., near V Street and Uptown Alley.

Investigators say the driver of an unidentified vehicle struck a male pedestrian in the area. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Following preliminary duties, police officers located the suspect around 7:00 p.m., at the 2300 block of Broadway. Crews booked 41-year-old Joe Earl Johnson into the Sacramento County Jail for felony hit-and-run.

Medical responders transported the 32-year-old male pedestrian to a nearby hospital for further treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, the pedestrian later succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased victim. Sacramento Officials are asking those who witnessed the hit-and-run to contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
