54-Year-Old Fresno Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident near Van Ness Avenue
FRESNO, CA (June 10, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, a bicycle collision on Stanislaus Street took the life of Gabriel Ortega.
Police officers responded to the scene around 1:15 p.m., near Van Ness Avenue.
Per reports, the driver of a sedan struck a bicyclist in the area. Upon impact, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Responding medical personnel transported the bicyclist to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased victim as 54-year-old Gabriel Ortega of Fresno.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Intoxication is not a suspected factor in the deadly crash.
