54-Year-Old Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Crash near Church Road
CAMPO, CA (June 10, 2024) – Monday evening, a motorcycle collision on Old Highway 80 took the life of Bert Gallegos.
First responders arrived to the scene around 5:45 p.m., near Church Road.
Based on the initial investigation, officers say the driver of a southbound 2014 Toyota Corolla made a left turn into the Golden Acorn Casino.
There, the male rider of a northbound 2022 Harley Davidson Road Glide struck the front end of the Corolla.
The impact of the collision ejected the rider from their motorcycle, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Medics later pronounced the motorcyclist deceased as he was about the be airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, responding paramedics transported the 78-year-old woman driving the Corolla to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The medical examiner’s office later identified the deceased rider as 54-year-old Bert Gallegos of Ramona.
California Highway Patrol officers will release more information regarding the fatal Highway 80 motorcycle crash once available.
