Woman Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 5 [Thornton, CA]

Female Occupant Fatally Injured in Semi-Truck Crash near West Walnut Grove Road

THORNTON, CA (June 5, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, one woman was pronounced dead after a wrong-way collision on Interstate 5.

Police officers responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway near West Walnut Grove Road on May 29th.

Per reports, the collision involved a semi-truck and at least two other smaller trucks.

Upon investigation, authorities learned that a female driver was traveling northbound when she veered off the road and crossed over to the southbound lanes.

As a result, the woman collided to the side of a semi-truck and then collided head-on with the other truck. Due to the impact of the crash, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman. In addition, medics transported two others to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

At this time, the cause of the wrong-way collision on Interstate 5 remains under investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor.
