Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Highway 53 [Lake County, CA]
23-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Anderson Ranch Parkway
LAKE COUNTY, CA (June 4, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, one woman was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Highway 53.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 1:53 a.m., just north of Anderson Ranch Parkway near Clearlake.
Reports indicate that the driver of a northbound vehicle struck a female pedestrian in the No. 2 lane. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting police.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities only described the deceased victim as a 23-year-old woman from Clearlake.
Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations.
