73-Year-Old Texas Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision near Smith Station Road

TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (June 4, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, one woman was killed and two men were hurt in a head-on crash on Highway 120.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m., police officers arrived to the westbound lanes of the freeway, just west of Smith Station Road.

Investigators say the 73-year-old male driver of a westbound sedan crossed the solid double-yellow lines for reasons unknown.

As a result, the wrong-way vehicle collided with an eastbound sedan driven by a 25-year-old man from Truckee.

Responding medical personnel declared the 73-year-old woman from Humble, Texas inside the first vehicle dead at the scene. Her name remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the two male drivers to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Following preliminary duties, police do not suspect alcohol and drugs to be a factor in the collision. Tuolumne County Officials will provide more information regarding the Highway 120 head-on crash once available.
