Man Fatally Struck in Bicycle Crash on North Chester Avenue [Bakersfield, CA]
63-Year-Old Man Killed in Bicycle Collision near McCord Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 4, 2024) – Saturday evening, a bicycle crash on North Chester Avenue took the life of a male bicyclist.
Dispatchers received calls around 9:14 p.m., just south of McCord Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officers say the male rider of a bicycle was heading west without any light equipment at night. As a result, the driver of a northbound 2004 Chevrolet hit the bicyclist, leaving the man on the bicyclist with life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics transported the 63-year-old man to Kern Medical Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries on May 26th.
Police said the driver of the Chevrolet sustained injuries but remained at the scene for questioning.
