6-Year-Old Child Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Lexington Avenue

POMONA, CA (June 3, 2024) – Tuesday evening, a pedestrian accident on Towne Avenue claimed the life of Guadalupe Salgado.

Dispatchers received calls in the area around 8:00 p.m., near Lexington Avenue on May 28th.

Officers says a woman was walking with her two daughters home from a store at the time. For reasons under investigation, the driver struck 19-year-old Mireya Alvarez and 6-year-old Salgado.

Medics transported Mireya to a nearby hospital where she remains in stable condition. Meanwhile, authorities pronounced Guadalupe dead at the scene due to the extent of her injuries.

Moreover, the involved driver remained in the area and cooperated with the investigation. No arrests or citations were made at this time.

A candlelight vigil was held for Guadalupe on Wednesday evening. The family set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses during this difficult time.
