Marcus Canizales Dead, Christopher Jost Hospitalized after Motorcycle Crash on State Route 88 [Red Lake, CA]
1 Rider Killed, 1 Injured in Motorcycle Collision near Red Lake Road
RED LAKE, CA (May 30, 2024) – Marcus Canizales died and Christopher Jost was hurt Monday night, in a motorcycle crash on State Route 88.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Red Lake Road.
California Highway Patrol officers say the rider of a westbound black 2007 Harley Davidson V-Rod crossed the double yellow lines for reasons unknown. The Harley then collided with a black 2007 BMW K1200 GT that was heading east.
Medical responders declared the Harley-Davidson rider dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased motorcyclist as 50-year-old Canizales, of Hayward.
Meanwhile, the BMW motorcyclist, identified as 52-year-old Christopher Jost of Gardnerville, was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital.
Investigators claimed that both riders were wearing protective gear. Officers will release more information regarding the fatal motorcycle crash once available.
