Jose Man Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Crash near Blossom Hill Road

SAN JOSE, CA (May 30, 2024) – Late Friday morning, one male driver was pronounced dead after a big-rig accident on US 101.

Dispatchers received calls around 11:15 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just north of Blossom Hill Road.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a northbound Honda sedan entered the southbound lanes for reasons unknown. As a result, the Honda struck an oncoming big-rig tractor trailer.

Upon impact, the Honda spun out of control before coming to a stop in the center median.

Responding emergency personnel declared the 22-year-old San Jose man driving the Honda dead at the scene. However, his name remains undisclosed to the public.

In addition, units from the San Jose Fire Department and Caltrans worked to clean out the spilled fuel from the tractor-trailer. Authorities are asking those who witnessed the fatal truck vs. car collision on US 101 to contact CHP at (408) 961-0900.
