Kevin Luu Dead, 1 Hospitalized after Stolen-Car Accident on Taft Street [Garden Grove, CA]
34-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Stolen-Car Crash near Trask Avenue
GARDEN GROVE, CA (May 29, 2024) – Saturday, a stolen-car crash on Taft Street claimed the life of Kevin Luu and left one other hospitalized.
Authorities responded to the scene around 9:50 p.m., near Trask Avenue.
Per reports, traffic officers pursued a teenage driver in a reportedly stolen vehicle near the intersection of Taft Street and Garden Grove Boulevard.
Following the chase, the suspect fled south on Taft and crashed into three other vehicles. Police said the teen attempted to flee the scene on foot but was eventually detained by officers.
Responding medical personnel transported two victims to a hospital in critical condition. Later, one of the patients, identified as 34-year-old Kevin Luu of Garden Grove, succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, police booked the unidentified suspect into the juvenile hall. Authorities are asking those who witnessed the crash to contact GPPD Investigator Yergler at (714) 741-5772.
