66-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash near 7th Street

EUREKA, CA (May 28, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, one man was killed and several others were hurt in a pedestrian collision on I Street.

Dispatchers received calls in the area around 1:45 p.m., at the 900 block of I Street near 7th Street. 

According to the police, a driver struck a pedestrian near 9th Street and collided with several other vehicles. The vehicle then came to a stop after crashing into a building in the area.

Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the 66-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, crews took several other patients to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. 

The identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public. Eureka Officials are asking those who witnessed the pedestrian collision on I Street to contact the EPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) at 707-441-4300.
