One Pronounced Dead after High-Speed Collision near Hollywood Way

BURBANK, CA (May 28, 2024) – Late Saturday night, a 2-car accident on Vanowen Street took the life of one driver and left another injured.

Police officers responded to the scene around 11:15 p.m., just west of Hollywood Way.

Upon arrival, the officers determined that an eastbound white Toyota Corolla collided with a white Scion. Authorities say both vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

The impact pushed both vehicles into an electrical pole and a fire hydrant, ejecting the Scion driver onto the road. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.

Meanwhile, responding paramedics treated the Corolla driver at the scene for moderate injuries.

At this time, the traffic investigators are working to determine whether intoxication played a role in the incident. Police are asking those who witnessed the 2-car accident on Vanowen Street to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
