19-Year-Old Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Rollover Collision near Deer Springs Road

ESCONDIDO, CA (May 23, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, a man was killed and a woman was injured in a rollover accident on Interstate 15.

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Deer Springs Road.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a Ford F-150 collided with a Chevrolet Silverado for reasons unknown. 

The impact of the crash caused the Ford to spin out of control while the Silverado veered right before rolling over several times onto the right shoulder. 

Responding medical personnel declared the 19-year-old Murrieta man driving the Silverado dead at the scene. His 19-year-old female passenger was transported to a hospital for treatment of significant injuries. 

Authorities said the 24-year-old Ford driver from Descanso remained unharmed from the collision. 

Emergency crews eventually closed the right northbound lane of I-15 during clearing operations.

At this time, an active investigation to determine more information is still currently underway. Escondido Officials will provide more information regarding the rollover accident on Interstate 15 once available.
