Driver Pronounced Dead after Train Crash near Pearson Road

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (May 23, 2024) – Sunday evening, one driver was fatally struck in a train collision on East Armstrong Road.

Dispatchers received calls around 6:00 p.m., near Pearson Road on May 19th.

Investigators say the driver of a Honda was heading west on Armstrong, and attempted to beat the oncoming train.

However, the driver was unable to do so, and the train struck the vehicle.

First responders located the overturned vehicle with the driver still trapped inside, with no signs of life. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the driver deceased.

In addition, no occupants of the train sustained injury. At this time, the driver’s identity has not yet been released, and an active investigation remains ongoing.
