22-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Scooter Vs. Auto Collision near Orchard Avenue
HAYWARD, CA (May 22, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a scooter accident on Mission Boulevard left Sai Gollapalli with fatal injuries.
Police responded to the scene around 4:45 p.m., near Orchard Avenue on May 8th.
According to reports, the driver of a vehicle struck a man riding a scooter in the area. First responders located the victim, unresponsive on the road.
Paramedics transported the scooter rider, 22-year-old Gollapalli, to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Authorities said the 36-year-old Hayward man driving the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Detectives working on the incident do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision.
