Donald Avery and Jose Peralta Killed, 2 Injured in Stop-Sign Collision on Beach Street [San Luis Obispo, CA]
Two Pronounced Dead after High-Speed Crash near Pismo Street
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (May 22, 2024) – Wednesday, Donald Avery and Jose Peralta were killed in a stop-sign collision on Beach Street.
Around 9:30 p.m., police officers responded to the scene near Pismo Street.
Investigators say the driver of a speeding vehicle ran through a stop sign while heading south on Beach Street. As a result, the car collided with another vehicle that was heading west on Pismo Street.
Upon impact, the speeding vehicle overturned several times, ejected both male occupants onto the road. First responders transported the two ejected men to a nearby hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities later identified the deceased victims as 52-year-old Avery, of Paso Robles and 49-year-old Peralta, of San Luis Obispo.
Police said that one of the deceased victims was the driver of the speeding vehicle.
Meanwhile, a third passenger inside the vehicle that rolled over sustained minor injuries. The woman driving the westbound car was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are asking those who witnessed the fatal stop-sign collision on Beach Street to contact their offices as soon as possible.
