Multiple Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Accident near Simon Drive

LA QUINTA, CA (May 21, 2024) – Tuesday evening, Maria Reyes, Katherine Vogts and Brandt Celli were killed in a crash on Highway 111.

Authorities responded to the scene around 9:20 p.m., near Simon Drive on May 14th.

According to reports, the initial collision involved a pedestrian and a motorcyclist. Due to the impact of the crash, both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Shortly after, the driver of a westbound white Chevrolet pickup-truck struck someone who was helping the victims of the first collision. That victim also died at the scene.

Additionally, another person sustained serious injuries, and responding paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Eventually, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office released the identities of the deceased as 33-year-old Reyes, 47-year-old Vogts, and 26-year-old Celli.

During preliminary duties, authorities evaluated the pickup-truck driver and he showed no signs of being impaired. No other information was provided, and an active investigation remains ongoing.
