Huntington Beach Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Santa Maria Street
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (May 21, 2024) – Sunday morning, Antonio Huerta was fatally struck in a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Slater Avenue.
Around 7:00 a.m., police officers responded to the scene near Santa Maria Street.
Responding officers learned that an eastbound vehicle veered into the bicycle lane and hit the victim. However, the driver did not pull over and fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Paramedics took the bicyclist to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries on Monday. Fountain Valley Officials identified the deceased victim as 52-year-old Huerta, of Huntington Beach.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle at this time. Officers are asking those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact local police as soon as possible.
