54-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Moped vs Car Collision near Elkhorn Road

MOSS LANDING, CA (May 20, 2024) – Early Wednesday morning, Michael Carrillo was killed in a head-on moped accident on Castroville Boulevard.

Around 5:48 a.m., police officers received dispatch calls on the eastbound lanes of Castroville near Elkhorn Road.

According to the responding officers, the driver of a red Honda Civic attempted to turn left on Elkhorn and collided with a westbound red Honda Forza moped.

The impact of the collision ejected the Moped rider from his vehicle and left him with significant injuries. Responding medical personnel declared 54-year-old Michael Pacifico Carrillo, of Prunedale dead at the scene. 

Meanwhile, the Honda sedan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision. At this time, the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
